Throughout the history of the organization AMIT built up a network of vocational schools, homes for children, surrogate family residences and other projects for youth in Israel. In the Cleveland area the organization used to consist of three separate chapters, Ra'anana B'noth, University/Beachwood, and Batya, which eventually merged into one united Greater Cleveland Chapter in 1996. In Cleveland, AMIT was and is a very active part of the Jewish community, organizing numerous fundraising dinners, luncheons, and other events along the Jewish holidays to support both the local Jewish community and to raise money for their numerous projects in Israel. It contains six districts in the United States and one international division. The Cleveland Club is a part of the North Central District of the national organization which was founded in 1965. The Cleveland Club provides leadership development and networking opportunities to professional working women in Cleveland and northeast Ohio. It also awards college scholarships to youth and increases awareness of economic, educational, and other social issues facing the Black community through community service. The organization's most popular event, the Annual Founder's Day Breakfast, attracts local and national speakers to discuss a variety of domestic and international topics, as well as honoring women's occupational achievements and commitment to volunteerism with professional and student awards, and the prestigious Sojourner Truth Award. In 1972, Moresky joined the Cleveland, Ohio NOW. By 1973 she was a member of the executive board and a state delegate, and, in 1974, Moresky became state NOW coordinator. In 1976 she was elected to a seat on the NOW national board. Moresky remained involved in NOW, particularly at the local level, throughout the 1980s, even as her political and women's rights activities increased and diversified. Her involvement included: Ohio Attorney General's Task Force on Sexism in Education, Cuyahoga County Democratic Executive Committee, Twenty-Second District Caucus chairperson, Democratic National Convention delegate, and Cleveland board member of Americans for Democratic Action. The collection includes personal files, consisting of resumes, calendars, correspondence, speeches and files re: fundraising and public relations; NOW files, consisting of local chapter files, Ohio NOW files, national NOW files, NOW ERA campaign files (hearings, press clippings and state campaign notebooks), and NOW publications; and, files pertaining to general women's issues, and events and organizations (such as abortion, day care, education, employment, International Women's Year, the Twenty-Second District Caucus, the Democratic National Conventions of 1980 and 1984). It was founded in 1919 by several of the first women copy writers and commercial artists in the city. Early members included DuMont Grant, advertising manager of Halle Brothers Company, and Freda Gonder, Belle Hoffman, and Ruth Jenkins of the May Company. Others were employed in various advertising offices of department stores and women's specialty shops. As advertising expanded and more women found employment in the field, the club soon included those working in radio and television broadcasting, public relations, printing, direct mail, ad specialties, and newspapers. In addition to professional concerns, the group maintained an extensive social schedule, including benefit activities and community contests. Betty Ott was an active member of the club.
